PROJECT OVERVIEW
The yeomenrugby.ca project was developed for the Vaughan Yeomen Rugby Club, a historic rugby organization based in Vaughan, Ontario, founded in 1972. The goal was to modernize the club’s online presence with a clean, responsive website that reflects its strong community roots and competitive legacy. Key objectives included enhancing user experience, showcasing the club’s history and programs (Rookie Rugby, Junior Boys U-16/U-18, and Senior Men), streamlining the registration process, and boosting community engagement through news, events, and volunteer opportunities. The site features mobile-friendly design, program-specific pages, an interactive event calendar, online registration, alumni highlights, and consistent branding throughout. The redesign has significantly improved usability, increased engagement, and simplified administrative tasks, positioning the club for continued growth. Future improvements may include a secure member portal, e-commerce for merchandise, and multimedia content integration. The redesign focused heavily on creating a clean, modern, and user-centric experience that reflects the club’s heritage and community spirit. The design incorporates the Vaughan Yeomen Rugby Club’s traditional colors—deep reds & white—paired with bold typography and high-contrast elements to convey strength and energy. The homepage features large, dynamic imagery showcasing players in action, emphasizing movement and teamwork, while the layout prioritizes intuitive navigation with a fixed top menu and clearly segmented sections for programs, news, and events. Custom iconography and visual cues guide users through the site, making it easy to find information on training schedules, teams, and registration. The site is fully responsive, adapting seamlessly across devices and screen sizes, with special attention given to mobile usability, since a large portion of the club’s audience accesses the site via smartphones. Accessibility best practices were followed to ensure the site is usable by all visitors, including alt text for images and keyboard-friendly navigation. Overall, the design strikes a balance between visual appeal and functionality, giving the Yeomen Rugby Club a professional and approachable online presence that supports its mission and community engagement goals.
